Start Here: Thinking About Living Abroad or Moving to Thailand?

We’re happy you found your way here.

Life in the United States can feel heavy. Expenses add up fast. Schedules stay full. Stress becomes normal. Many Americans are looking for a different way to live, one that feels calmer and more balanced. Thailand became that place for us. This page is here to help you decide if it could work for you as well.

Everything we share comes from our own experience. We talk about daily life, real challenges, and the small moments that helped us build a new chapter overseas.

Our Story

Before moving to Thailand, we lived in the United States. Like many families, we felt worn down by rising costs and a fast pace of life.

We are parents to five daughters and grandparents to two granddaughters. Our youngest daughter is currently in college, studying toward a medical career.

Moving abroad was not a quick decision. We talked about it for years. When we finally chose to move, we had to let go of almost everything we owned. We sold what we could, donated the rest, and cleared out years of paperwork.

That process was emotional, but it also gave us a fresh start.

What we wanted was simple:

  • A lower cost of living
  • A slower and more peaceful lifestyle
  • Time to breathe and enjoy life
  • A chance to learn from a new culture

Thailand gave us the space to rebuild our lives in a healthier way.

What we wish we knew before moving abroad

When we first thought about leaving the U.S., we didn’t know where to start. Everything felt big and unclear. We worried about money, safety, health, and whether we were making a mistake.

Over time, we learned a few simple truths that might help you too:

  • You don’t need to have every detail figured out to start researching.
  • Visiting first can make the idea feel more real and less scary.
  • It’s normal to feel both excited and afraid at the same time.
  • Most of the big fears become smaller once you see daily life up close.
  • Planning slowly is better than rushing into a decision.

These are things we wish someone had told us in the beginning.
